Leave the seafront for the valley.
The river mouth and the inland Dim valley are different experiences. A trip inland lets you exchange the open coast for a landscape framed by hills and water, with a more deliberate journey between stops.
Plan the valley as an outing in its own right. Choose where you want to pause, allow time for lunch and leave room to enjoy the surroundings. Riverside venues vary in layout and season; check the place you intend to visit rather than relying on a photograph.
