Stay for the changing light.
A coastal visit does not have to revolve around swimming. Walk a manageable stretch, find somewhere to sit and notice the way the light changes the water and the buildings behind it.
Come back later in the day if you can. The same waterfront can become the setting for an evening pause rather than a busy afternoon. Wind, waves and the season shape that experience, so leave the day flexible instead of expecting the photograph’s exact conditions.
