The sea gives this part of Alanya its focus. The Damlataş end sits beside the castle peninsula, with the beach opening out to the west. Away from the sand, cafés and city streets give the area a different pace from a secluded holiday bay.

Try the neighbourhood on foot rather than judging it from a beach photograph alone. Walk the streets behind the coast, stop for breakfast or tea, and return towards the water later in the day. The contrast between beach season and a quieter visit is part of understanding the place.

Step out of the sunlight.

Damlataş brings a different scale to this part of the city: rock formations and an enclosed cave interior after the openness of the beach. It makes a distinct cultural stop during a day around the shore, rather than another view of the same coastline.

Keep the visit unhurried. Combine it with a pause nearby, then decide whether you want to return to the beach or continue towards the hillside. The surrounding area rewards a day with fewer stops and more time at each one.

Give the castle surroundings a separate part of your day. Stone walls, trees and the water below create a different setting from the open beach around Damlataş.
